I‘ve been involved in the fitness industry for over thirteen years now and I love the indoor track and the boxing bags, but to be honest I prefer personal or group outdoor recreational activities over the weight room. Exercise and emotional wellness is not just about looking good it is also about feeling good.
For example, my cousin John had recently taken some steps to quit his cigarette smoking. It was clear that not only was his dieting wrong, but his lung capacity was not up to par when we would partake in outdoor activities. We were both relieved when he stumbled onto portable vaporizers that would allow him to slowly quit smoking the “cancer sticks.” That is only the first step to a healthy lifestyle, but there are many more for John such as a well balanced diet along with regularly working out.
While the gym has its place in our lifestyles in the contemporary world nothing will ever beat the benefits of getting in your daily amount of exercise by taking advantage of nature.
It is the way of the future, so just for fun picture with me cities that revolve around the individual instead of the automobile. Envision a metropolis with substantially less crowded and polluting streets. In these cities communal parks abound, jogging trails are everywhere, and public health is a prime directive. Urban parks are quickly becoming one of the most popular recreational activities in major cities across the world. They are getting more extensive, receiving extra funding and attention, and assisting more and more citizens enjoy longer and healthier lives.

In my area nothing tops Forest Park. It is 197-acres of wooden wonderland complete with hiking trails, a huge jungle-gym for the kids with a little water park connected to it, and sporty areas for everything from soccer to street hockey. Even I have fun on the playground chasing my four year old up and down the plethora of winding colorful slides. It does wonders for my soul. In the summers watching her bolt in and out of the water streams with all the other manic munchkins affords my spirit a sense of fun and peace.
If you don’t have a kid, you can always go out with your k-9 companion. As long as you have a dog leash and some dog supplies for your buddy, you can have just as much fun playing with him or her. Things like playing catch is usually one of the dog’s favorite activities. Help your dog help you, seize the companionship and treat yourself to a beautiful day.
The reason outdoor recreational activities are so popular is because they restore and rejuvenate our psyche as well as mend and sustain our healthy bodies. If a municipality wants to lower their financial burden in terms of healthcare costs, it has been proven to be lowered by simply adding a park, a basketball court or two, an outdoor rock wall, or some biking trails.

So get out and take advantage of the public parks in your area. Put on those running shoes and go for an invigorating jog. Hop on the two-wheeler and bike a few scenic miles. Or stroll with some friends for a while in the nearest natural setting. Life is not an indoor event.
